The hilarious My Vrou se Man se Vrou at Emperors Palace

14 June 2012

Ray Cooney’s entertaining comedy, My Vrou se Man se Vrou, will be performed on stage at Emperors Palace from the 4 July – 12 August and will provide an evening of hysterical entertainment at its best.

Run for your Wife has been performed for more than 25 years on London’s West End, and now Gauteng audiences will be able to enjoy Peet van Rensburg’s amusing translation of My Vrou se Man se Vrou.

A laugh a minute, the main character, John Smith, lives with his wife Mary and with his second wife Barbara, who both only live four minutes apart.  John’s irregular working hours is what he hides behind to cover-up his double-life.  However, an accident and a wrong address cause quite a stir and John has to know his every move in order to keep his secret safe.  To make matters worse, he also has to dodge his nosy neighbours, a determined journalist and two suspicious policemen.

The lead roles, played by the talented Hannes Muller and acclaimed Tobie Cronjè, are undoubtedly two of South Africa’s best comic actors. Cronjè’s most recent roles include Kallie Koster in KykNet’s Binnelanders and one of the ugly sisters in the pantomime Cinderella.  Muller is better known as the caveman in the prize-winning Groet die Grotman, which broke Afrikaans theatre records.  Directed by the talented Frans Swart, other My Vrou se Man se Vrou cast members include Heidi Mollentze, Lelia Etsebeth, Duncan Johnson, Hannes Brümmer and Wynand van Vollenstee.

Tickets for the show start from R110 per person and can be booked through the Emperors Palace website on www.emperorspalace.com. The show starts at 20h00 from Tuesdays to Fridays, with Saturday shows at 15h00 and 20h00, and on Sundays at 15h00. There is no age restriction, but parental guidance (PG13) is advised for children younger than 13.

After a side-splittingly, fun evening, guests can enjoy a stress-free night with convenient accommodation by checking into one of the four impressive hotels at Emperors Palace, situated alongside the O.R Tambo International Airport.
